Absorption Liquid Chiller Steam-Fired, Double-Effect

Carrier’s 16DE/DEH double effect, hermetic absorption liquid chiller provides an alternative means of efficient, cost effective water chilling. By utilizing high-pressure steam, chillers avoid high-cost electricity and quality for utility rebates and incentives as a gas cooling product.

Cooling capacity: 359~5,803 kW
16DE – Double-Effect (359~2,321 kW)
16DEH – Steam-Fired Double-Effect (422~5,803 kW)

16DE/DEH absorption chiller offers functional flexibility in a variety of installations:

  • No CFCs; non-ozone depleting
  • Two-stage high efficiency design reduces energy costs
  • Quiet, vibration-free operation
  • Few moving parts equates to high reliability

    • Features

      • Double-effect absorption cycle increases efficiency
      • The 16DE chiller offers typical full load steam rates of less than 10 lb/hr-ton at standard ARI (Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute) operating conditions.
      • The 16DE’s standard concentration control system allows stable, part-load operation at cooling water temperatures as low as 59 F (15 C) without the need for a cooling tower bypass
      • Every 16DE incorporates a condensate drain heat exchanger which reduces steam consumption, resulting in further energy savings.
      • The overall sound level of a Carrier 16DE is typically 80dbA when measured per Standard ARI Standard 575 (latest edition).
      • Chiller performance shall be rated in accordance with ARI Standard 560 (latest edition).
      • Chiller shall be manufactured and designed in accordance with ANSI/ASHRAE 15 (latest edition), Safety Code for Mechanical Refrigeration.
      • Chiller shall be designed and constructed to meet applicable (GB) requirements.
      • Each chiller shall undergo a series of standard factory tests to ensure that the unit is leak tight, that all electrical components operate as intended.
      • Environmentally Sound: Chilled water is produced using water as the refrigerant in place of ozone depleting chlorine-based compounds
      • Alternative Energy Use: Uses hot water as primary energy source. Electricity only required for pumps, controls
      • Application Flexibility: Hybrid chiller plants allows flexibility and optimization of energy costs
      • Cogeneration applications take advantage of waste heat often available in many facilities thus improving overall plant efficiency
      • Two-stage high efficiency design reduces energy costs
      • No CFCs; environmentally friendly
      • Quiet, vibration-free operation
      • Few moving parts equates to high reliability
      • Water is used as the refrigerant in vessels maintained under low absolute pressure (vacuum)
      • The 16DE series chiller shall be provided with a factory installed and wired PD5 control system with individually replaceable modular component construction.
      • The PD5 can be interface with the Carrier Comfort Network (CCN). The user interface is a touch screen. PD5 provides VFD for solution pump control.
      • Single-point box electrical connection
      • Automatic, motorless purge system extends machine life and ensures optimum efficiency and performance
      • Anti-crystallization controls maintain proper solution concentration
      • Enhanced part load design and energy efficient operation
      • Automatic multiple protection from crystallization
      • Automatic regulation of solution concentration without any manual control valve
      • Carrier patented automatic injector purge system
      • ICVC control system with more advanced features
      • Guarantee of quality by Carrier advanced equipment and workmanship
